Ro Strand

Ro is a halfling grave cleric of the Water Ashari. He frequently sails the Ozmit Sea and Lucidian Ocean and can easily be found on any of Exandria's continents.

As a cleric, Ro worships Avandra, the Changebringer, and gives deference to the Matron of Ravens.

Ro is easy-going and quick to smile, but he can't turn down a challenge to save his life. It started as a child - smallest in the village - and the habit hasn't gone away, even as he's become more confident. He's also loath to pass up friendly wagers, especially if he feels he has a good chance of winning, whatever the odds.

Given his size, Ro is used to living in a world of big people and he isn't afraid to make himself known or heard if he's being spoken over or ignored. He typically has a staff and won't hesitate to whack someone in the hip if he needs to.

In all things related to his cleric duties, Ro is patient. He became a cleric in the hopes of being able to help people, to heal the wounded and sick and ease the suffering of the dying.

Ro often feels restless, not quite sure where he fits in. He's happiest with something to do, and he won't hesitate to leave home to find it.

Ro is an average-sized halfling with an athletic build. He's spent most of his life climbing rigging in sailing ships and hauling fish nets. His hands are clever and callosused. He wears simple, comfortable clothes and carries a staff; albatross and raven feathers dangle from it, along with a few black pearls.

Halflings are nimble, able to move around larger creatures with ease. They are also brave, and difficult to frighten. As a stout halfling, Ro is resistant to poison.

Circle of Mortality: Ro can stabilize people who have fallen unconscious within 30ft.

Eyes of the Grave: With focus, Ro can tell if there are any undead within 60ft of him for a short period of time.

Path to the Grave: As a grave cleric, Ro can curse a creature to make it vulnerable to future damage.

Sentinel at Death's Door: Reacting quickly to allies in need, Ro can lessen the damage they take when critically injured.

Turn/Destroy Undead: Presenting his holy symbol and speaking a prayer, Ro can force undead that can hear him to move away from him, unable to attack others. If the undead are weak enough, there's a possibility that this channeling of divinity will destroy it.

War Caster: Practiced in casting spells in the midst of combat, Ro has learned techniques to help him maintain his concentration on spells when he takes damage. He can also cast while holding a weapon or shield. When an attacking creature moves away from him, he can strike out with a spell or weapon attack.

Magic Initiate - Bard: After spending time around a lot of bards on voyages across the Ozmit Sea and Lucidian Ocean, Ro has picked up a little bit of bardic magic. He can cast the cantrips Message and Dancing Lights as well as the spell Dissonant Whispers.

background

Ro was likely born in Vesrah, but he lost his parents as an infant and was taken in by a human family on the shore of Tal'Dorei. Raised among their many children, Ro learned two skills quickly: how to make himself heard and how to disappear.

Though his human foster-siblings all treated Ro like one of their own, other children in their small community weren't always so kind. Ro quickly became the kid who was willing to take dares just to prove himself, determined to do something that would make him fit in or gain the respect of his peers. As he got older, he found more confidence in himself and more comfort in being on his own, and he didn't feel the need to fling himself into danger or stupidity with the same frequency.

Eventually, Ro learned of his connection to Vesrah and traveled across the Ozmit sea to meet his people. There aren't many halflings among the Water Ashari, so it wasn't hard to narrow down who he was. He was welcomed and invited to stay, which gave him the opportunity to meet some more distant members of his family. Since then, Ro spends his time between Vesrah and his adoptive family in Tal'Dorei.
